Here at Canadian Cannabis Clinics, we believe in the power of medical cannabis. And while there is a large body of scientific evidence to support this, we also feel it is important to hear it directly from people who’ve introduced medical cannabis into their lives. We asked various patients to share their experiences with medical cannabis. Their names have been left out for privacy.
CBD – Part of Her Life Forever
“I’ll admit at first, I was hesitant to try medical cannabis as growing up, it was illegal, so I had some lingering stigma around it. “Would I become addicted?” “What will my family think?” “Will I get really high?” These were all questions that were flowing through my mind! I was struggling with some stress though. I had just started a new job, in a new city and was juggling lots of other things in my busy lifestyle! A co-worker introduced me to CBD initially and explained that it would not get me high. I decided to give it a go and to my surprise, those stress levels came down. CBD is now part of my life and I see it as a natural way to create some balance when needed. I have also moved on to trying some THC products, which I’m also enjoying!”
Reducing Anxiety, Stress, and Menstruation Pains

“Back in 2018 I was having some personal issues, including going through a bad break up. I started feeling stressed out and was filled with anxiety, including having small panic attacks that would manifest as bad chest pains. It was alarming. I am an advocate for medicating against anxiety or depression if it works for you, but for me personally the medications my doctor had me try gave me horrible side effects. Therapy is a great long-term solution, but my short-term fix was cannabis. It helps me to feel less anxious and more relaxed. I can use it before bed to fall asleep so that I’m not tossing and turning with thoughts racing through my head all night. Some months my menstruation pains are worse than others and I have found that cannabis is an effective pain reliever for that as well. All of this with none of the side effects that I had from traditional pharmaceuticals.”
Helping Patients with Arthritis

“
My mother is in her mid-60s and has started to develop painful arthritis in her knees and other joints. She does not like to take strong pain medication (and sometimes it wouldn’t be effective for her anyway) so I convinced her to try CBD oil and capsules. She didn’t want to feel the psychoactive effects of getting high, so CBD was a great choice for her, and she loved it! She said that it treats her pain so effectively that she can go back to physical activities (like riding her motorcycle – I know, she is pretty cool) without having to worry.”
Learning More About Yourself
As a cannabis enthusiast for over 20 years, my relationship with it has evolved and deepened through exploring medical cannabis. Though I’ve consumed cannabis recreationally from a young age, over the last 8 years I’ve begun to learn more about the medical and holistic use of medical cannabis.
Since then, exploring an intentional & intuitive relationship with the plant and medical cannabis has increased my knowledge and experience in understanding how my body responds to it. This includes which strains or product types may have effects that are more medical or recreational, depending on what my body, or mind, needs at the time.
I am so grateful to be in Canada where I can access legal, safe and reliable medical cannabis for my daily health and wellness needs.
Finding Balance in a Busy World

“Having a stressful job on top of a busy family with 2 young kids, I would find myself awake at all hours of the night, ruminating over the to-do list and having an overall high anxiety state. I started using medical cannabis 3 years ago initially to help me get a good night sleep. I have since found that using a light dose of balanced products, and high CBD edibles and oils have helped restored balance so I can continue to show up as my best self every day.”
Why Medical Cannabis Should Be a Part of Every Woman’s Life
“I had never consumed cannabis prior to starting in the industry in 2018 but as I learned about the medical benefits of cannabis through my work, I began to experiment with different formats, THC:CBD ratios and dosing. Because of my experiences, the experiences I have heard from my peers and the significant amount of scientific evidence on the medical benefits of cannabis, I believe cannabis deserves to be a permanent fixture in every healthcare provider’s medical toolbox, especially those that care for women. I personally have found low-dose THC edibles (my favorite are gummies!) help me reduce my stress and anxiety and give me a consistent, restful sleep every night. I also find CBD capsules right before bed beneficial for me to keep away those scary 2 am thoughts that sometimes pop into one’s head and to ensure I wake up feeling well balanced to start my day. We have a long way to break the stigma surrounding medical cannabis, but I am hopeful through education and community, we can get there soon!”
